Snoop Dogg once kept a cockroach as his pet for a long six months.
The ‘Young, Wild & Free’ rapper even gave his little pal a rather unique name.
While you’d probably expect Snoop to keep much bigger four-legged friends as pets, he recently revealed he ‘lived with’ the cockroach to Canadian interviewer Nardwuar.

Although, there was some confusion over the question at first - expectedly.
“Did you one time have a roach?” Nardwuar asked.
And in typical Snoop fashion, the star responded: “A roach? I got a roach in my hand right now,” as he took a puff on the smoking joint mid-interview.
So the interviewer had to hash over his question to make it clearer to the marijuana advocate.

“Called Gooch, did you have a roach called Gooch?” he said and this reminded Snoop, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., of his old mate.
“Oh yeah, Gooch used to live with me,” he said in between puffs. “In my apartment I had a roach that we couldn’t kill - we tried to kill the mother***ker when we first moved in and he wouldn’t die, so we called him The Gooch.”
Although he initially approached the cockroach with more murderous, dark intentions, it seems Snoop now has a soft spot for his former ‘pet’ who he even looked out for in the apartment.

“And he just kept getting bigger and bigger. I stayed in that apartment for about six/seven months, ‘cuz grew to the size of about a whole dollar bill. He was about the size of a dollar bill,” he added.
Taking good care of the roachy brother, Snoop said: “We called him The Gooch. We used to leave food out for him and everything.”
In his 11th interview with Nardwuar, the ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ artist wore the hood up on a colourful hoodie covered with the artwork from his 1993 album, Doggystyle.

They chatted about more than just Snoop’s odd lil pet though, such as looking at some old nostalgic items.
Showing him an old copy of The Source magazine with a headline reading: "Atomic Dogg, Snoop & Dr. Dre Build the Ultimate Bomb."
Having been asked what he remembers about the magazine, Snoop said: “That was my debut album, they gave me a little cover and said I was coming up next when Dr. Dre was working on my album Doggystyle.”
The rapper first came to fame after being featured on the rapper and producers debut single ‘Deep Cover’ in 1992.

When Doggystyle debuted, it was number one on the Billboard 200 and sold 800,000 copies in its first week making it quadruple-platinum in 1994. Of course, the album features ‘Gin and Juice’ and ‘What’s My Name?’
