I think we are all aware of how cruel the internet can be at times, as even those with relatively small followings can receive hateful comments.
For those who have a massive internet presence, they obviously have more people liking and commenting on their social media posts, and as is the case with the internet, they are not all positive.
While social media companies have come out in the past and said they are taking steps to prevent trolls from thriving on their platforms, there's no question that there is a lot of work still to be done.

Many famous faces who are targeted by trolls tend to ignore the criticism, but one celebrity has decided to do the complete opposite and hit back at it.
The celebrity in question is Twilight alum Taylor Lautner, with trolls horribly telling him online that he has not 'aged well'.
The 31-year-old took to his social media platforms to share a powerful video, where he even showed on screen some of the nasty comments that have come his way.
While it is never best to look at comments about yourself online, Taylor explained how he looked at them from an external post with a photo of himself appearing on TV.

He explained how looking at the comments made him realise why he doesn't do it often, but he did have a rather strong message for his viewers.
"I'm in a different place now and I juts felt compelled to share this with you," Taylor said in the video uploaded on Monday (22 May).
Following that, Taylor shared on-screen a bunch of negative comments, such as trolls saying he 'looks like old broccoli' and 'aged like a raisin'.

"If this was 10 years ago, five years ago, maybe even two, three years ago, that really would have got under my skin," the actor continued.
"It would have caused me to want to just go in a hole and not go outside."
Taylor added that he is in a 'different place' now and is no longer in an 'unhealthy position' where he would focus on 'wrong things' - aka hurtful comments coming from trolls.

"You find value where you put it," Taylor continued.
"And if you put your value in what other people think of you, that's how you're going to feel. But if you put your value in you knowing who you are, what's important to you, what you love, that kind of stuff won't get to you."
In what was a powerful message, the Twilight star concluded: "My biggest point is just think about and remember where you put your value in life, and also just be nice. It's not that difficult.
"Let's be nice to each other. Let's spread love and positivity. It's that simple."
