"I am graduating today. I don't like how you snatched the mic out of my hand, so today is going to be all about me."
The graduating student then dropped the mic in dramatic fashion and walked away having made her point.
The TikToker explained to her followers in another video why things had gone down the way they did on the day, providing some crucial context to the viral video.

She said: "Basically what happened was, I was walking on, and we had to announce our names before we get on the stage, and I was saying my name... my name is long, obviously, I have like three syllables in it, so I didn’t even finish getting to say my name.
"And then the people that went before me, they all got to say their name, their major, and even some extras.
"Me and the other girl noticed she was pulling the mic down super fast for some black people.
"I don’t want to be that person, but that was the tea.

"So I just couldn’t let that happen because I just feel like I worked so hard to graduate and went through so much s**t to graduate that I just felt like I had to reclaim my moment."
"I’m sorry like, I’m not a problematic person, I don’t want to ruin no ones day, I don’t want to violate anyone… but that’s what she did."
"She didn’t even let me finish speaking, she put the mic down and cut me off and that was the only time I was able to speak.

"So I just felt like that wasn’t right."
She later posted on social media telling people 'u will not gaslight me into thinking I'm the bad guy' and declared that she was doing it for other people.
"I did it for girls that look like me love u," she said.
TikTokers have backed her decision to grab the microphone, telling her she 'stood up for the girls who weren’t comfortable saying it out loud'.
