A man has gone viral after he shared a relatable but often overlooked message about adult loneliness - before sharing tips for others who feel the same way.
TikTok user @zaidleppelin first started posting about adult loneliness back in August this year and has since discovered that there are a lot of others who feel equally alone.
In the first clip Zaid shared he explained that he worked full-time from home and was back living with his parents after finishing college meaning it was hard to find new people to talk to. You can see his frank and open description of adult loneliness here:
In the clip, Zaid said: “I’ve been experiencing a soul crushing loneliness. That I think is best attributed to the fact that I don’t encounter opportunities to meet new people nowadays.”

He went on to say that some people may believe that his situation is ‘self-inflicted’ and that he could move out of his parent’s home. However, he pointed to the sky-high rental prices to explain why that wasn’t an option readily available to him.
After bravely opening up about his situation, Zaid was flooded with comments from like-minded people who resonated with his predicament.
One wrote: “Loneliness is as deadly as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. We weren't meant to be alone. We are social creatures.”
Another said: “Sometimes I just sit at cafes to see and feel people's presence. I know that feeling well, I hope you find something that eases it.”

While a third commented: “I WFH, live with my family, and all my friends live far away and I feel the exact same loneliness - at least we aren’t alone in that.”
Since his initial post, Zaid has made and shared several other videos on the subject of adult loneliness including one in which he offers numerous helpful solutions to those who work from home and feel that their work and living spaces have merged.
In the video, Zaid suggests people use co-working spaces to "give a sense of a workplace again" where you can ‘"ocus on your own thing while still being around people who are incidentally there as well."

He also recommended using coffee shops as a way to break up the monotony of working from home and ‘socialise through osmosis'.
Zaid went on to say that he has found physical activity can be very ‘grounding’ and suggested those feeling lonely could join a gym - or pick up any other activity that gets you out of your home - to give you a sense of community.
