Estranged identical twins who were separated at birth ended up living the exact same life

Estranged identical twins who were separated at birth ended up living the exact same life

Jim Lewis and Jim Springer grew up only 40 miles apart, not knowing about their sibling until much later in life

Identical twin brothers who were separated at birth and put up for adoption went on to live incredibly similar lives, with so many minute details being exactly the same.

Jim Lewis and Jim Springer, also known as 'the Jim twins', were an identical pair living in the US whose similarities went far beyond what they looked like when they were born and extended into so many details in their lives.

The first detail they had in common was one they had no control over what their adopted families decided to call them.

Both of them ended up being called James, perhaps their identical nature made them look like a pair of James', but preferred to be referred to as Jim for short, and from that point onwards the surprising similarities kept coming.

Living about 40 miles apart and not knowing they were brothers separated at birth, their life stories are so similar in places that we might as well just write about them as if they're one person.

Jim had a brother called Larry and a dog named Toy, while at school he proved to be good at maths and not so good at spelling.

Jim really enjoyed woodwork as a hobby and pursued a career in law enforcement, he went on to marry a woman called Linda, but they got divorced and he tied the knot with second wife Betty - eventually naming first son James Allan.

There you go, two life stories for the price of one, and of course not forgetting the crucial detail of meeting his estranged identical twin brother Jim at the age of 39, but that one's sort of cheating.

The similarities don't stop there as the two men discovered they had the same taste in beer and preferred to smoke the same brand of cigarettes.

When they were asked to be part of a scientific study they got incredibly similar results for tests determined to work out their personality and medical history, and when they were asked to draw a picture they both drew the same thing.

Fortunately there are some differences, otherwise this would be in incredibly eerie tale, as one twin ended up getting married a third time to a woman named Sandy, which was not emulated by the other Jim, much to the relief of his wife.

There are other surprising examples of twins living incredibly similar lives, with multiple cases of twins having children on the exact same day as their sibling.

Who knows, maybe you have a long lost identical twin somewhere out there living almost the exact same life as you?
