Woman who has entire body covered in tattoos to become a 'vampire' issues warning to others

Woman who has entire body covered in tattoos to become a 'vampire' issues warning to others

Maria José Cristerna Méndez got her first tattoo when she was 14

A woman who holds the Guinness World Record for the most body modifications has issued a warning to others.

Maria José Cristerna Méndez, from Mexico, who goes by the nickname 'Vampire Woman', has had a long interest in tattoos and body modifications from a young age.

She had her first tattoo when she was just 14, and now has a total of 50 body modifications.

Her remarkable number of tats and body mods meant Mara claimed a Guinness World Record as the most modified woman in 2012.

So, where are Maria's body enchantments?

Well, perhaps unsurprisingly they are absolutely everywhere.

Her forearms and arm are modified with implants, while Maria's body is topped from head to toe in tattoos.

It's not exactly uncommon for people to have ink on their legs, arms or back, but Maria's tattoos are in some unconventional places.

In fact, the Mexican has tattoos on her eyeballs of all places, which was surely extremely painful.

Maria also has multiple piercings in her eyebrows, lips, nose, tongue, ear lobes, belly button, and nipples, while also being equipped with dental implants.

Speaking to Guinness World Records in 2022, Maria said: "In the beginning, my dad didn’t agree with the idea. But after that, he took me to the tattoo studio to get my very first tattoo.

"Art runs through my veins. Since I was a little kid I loved art and now I can express it through my body."

Back in 2022, Maria spoke about wanting to cover 100 percent of her body with tattoos, adding she doesn't 'care what people think about me'.

Nonetheless, she did issue a warning to people hoping to follow in her footsteps.

She said: "The advice I would give is that you have to think about it a lot as it is irreversible.

"I love the way I look, but you have to understand that there are young people who are very open to tattoos and piercings and everything. It’s become fashionable, so we might get to a point where it’s not what we want anymore, and we might not like it anymore.

“So you have to think about it very hard in order to love it and be able to defend it your whole life."

Maria went on to state how her love for body modifications came following a breakdown in her marriage where she felt unable to express her true self.

"You always can reach your goals. There are no limits. Nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it," she added.
