Is it too much to ask for McDonald’s Dino Fries at ridiculously cheap prices while I chill on a remote island all by myself? That's the question people are asking after viewing YouTuber and photographer Chris Luckhardt's fascinating footage, which provides an unexpected blast from the past.
When it comes to fast food, most people expect it to be cheap, made quickly and served as a little treat.
Maybe you go to McDonald’s to grab the wrap of the day or make sure you got an empty stomach ahead of Taco Tuesday but whatever your choice, the cost must certainly be on your mind.

With the cost-of-living crisis and inflation tightening purse strings, most simply can’t grab their fave fast-food meal as much as they would like.
If you do get a takeaway through Uber Eats or Door Dash, chances are you now feel guilty for spending so much.
But this wasn’t always the case, as some social media users are finding after a photographer shed some light on an abandoned McDonald's.
Footage of a McDonald’s that has seemed untouched since 1994 has left users stunned at just how little food from the golden arches franchise used to cost.

The fast-food joint is on Adak Island in Alaska, and photographer Luckhardt, (Insta -@chrisluckhardt) shared clips of the menu the restaurant has posted outside since the mid-90s.
The island is about 274.59 square miles, but has a population of just 150. It was once uninhabited but served as a US naval base during World War 2 and the Cold War.
Seems quite a random place to have a McDonalds, but there was a time where they really were popping up overnight just about everywhere.

According to its price list, in 1994 a Big Mac meal would have set you back $4.59, six Chicken Nuggets have been marked as $2.35, and a kids hamburger Happy Meal would have cost $3.36.
Nowadays, a Big Mac sets you back $8.39, six chicken nuggets would cost you $4.79, and a Happy Meal costs $5.99.
As well as this, the restaurant offered “dino-size fries” which may have been a tie in to the 1993 film Jurassic Park. The Happy Meals also contained a “Bobby’s World” toy, an animated series that aired from 1990-1998.

While most people were shocked by the prices, others remarked that in the mid 90s, their local McDonald’s offered cheaper prices.
As noted on the McDonald’s corporate website, “McDonald’s prices vary by location. Ninety percent of McDonald’s restaurants are independently owned and operated by franchisees, who have the ability to set their own prices.”
