In a world where people indulge the guilty pleasure of ignoring red flags, a woman on TikTok has explained how noticing them in Norway could help save your life.
Now this isn’t extreme dating advice insisting you should face a person’s red flags head on - though you probably should.
But red flags seen in public in Oslo, Norway, take on a bit more of a serious meaning.

In a video that has gone viral on TikTok, Emma, a British citizen who moved to the city, explained why it is so important to notice the flags when outside.
Here's what she had to say here:
On her TikTok, @heywali, she posted a video that, on Wednesday (January 3), has been viewed more than 1.5 million times.

“Never walk under these in Oslo,” she began her video - which showed a red flag hanging next to a store.
“When you are walking around the city, you are probably going to see some red flags like this.
“They often hang outside shops and apartment blocks, they are super dangerous if you walk under them.
“If you take a look up you can see snow and massive icicles hanging. These red flags identify where these icicles and snow might drop down on to the street."

And many social media users admitted that, when in the city, they had walked under countless red flags - luckily without any incident.
“I was in Oslo 3 days ago and I literally walked under them tons of times,” wrote one user.
“I literally have a photo of me standing under one lmaooo I just thought oh cute flag,” another commented.
“I have literally always wondered what these are my entire three years here. No telling how many I have walked under,” someone else said.

Emma even replied that she'd walked under many before being informed of what the danger was.
“Me too! When they first started going up we didn’t know what they were. But my neighbour knows someone who died from falling ice,” the TikToker added.
According to Norwegian publication, NRK, these flags are issued by safety companies - namely Rasfare.no and Fareforras.no.

The outlet says that, according to Norwegian law and police, the owner of the building are obliged to set up a warning as soon as there are signs of a possible fall of ice and snow.
The owner must then clean up the ice and snow before the warning sign is taken down.
