A teacher has been flooded with donations after sharing footage of her empty classroom on TikTok.
Viewers on TikTok were left dumfounded after teacher Megan (@progressivemama) shared a clip of her empty classroom, with no supplies.
"So frustrated going into my classroom today. No shelves for a classroom library. The desks are weird for a Kindergarten class. No cabinets. No rug. No leftover supplies or books. How much of my own money am I expected to spend?," she said in the video.

She then proceeded to pan the camera around the classroom, focusing on all of the 'empty' cupboards. And, unsurprisingly other teachers chimed in with similar experiences.
One wrote: "Yup!! That’s all you get. Desks, chairs, and textbooks. That’s what people don’t realize. We buy EVERYTHING!!"

To which the content creator replied: "My last classroom had furniture like shelves. I don’t know how to make my class library."
With nowhere else to turn Megan did the only thing she could think to do, she shared her Amazon wish list online, writing: "This wish list will be used to purchase things for my kindergarten class for the 2022-2023 school year! Thank you for supporting us and helping me to create lifelong learners!"
Thankfully, friends, family, and even strangers on the internet pulled through for the school teacher - within hours of sharing her wish list, she was flooded with donations.

And, in a follow-up to the video, Megan wrote: "I've had SO MANY friends and family donate to me. I did spend some of my own money too but I am feeling SO MUCH BETTER."
She also said that the donations were especially important because 'all students deserve everything, but my kiddos are Title 1.'

"I don’t know if they’re going home to nice things and I really want them to have that here," she added.
For anyone not familiar, Title 1 is a targeted assistance programme that supports low-income students throughout their education.
And, thankfully now her students have the equipment they need, as Megan proceeded to show a colourful classroom that'd rival Miss Honey's in Matilda.
While it worked out well for Megan, teachers across the country are being forced to fork out their own money for dwindling school supplies.
