While you might be aware of the issues of putting grease down your drain, a TikTok video has highlighted another blockage culprit.
You have just made a great meal, have munched it down with some friends or family and are now dealing with the cleanup, wondering what to do with the grease.
Your instinct might be to simply put it down the sink drain like you do with other liquids, but oh dear - that is a big no no.

Admittedly, that is pretty well known at this point. Putting grease down drains can cause blockages and a myriad of issues.
If you have been doing it all your adult life… well, now you know you shouldn’t.
But one TikToker and plumber has explained the reasoning behind it as well as pointing to one another surprising thing that causes blockages in the home.

TikTok user @thatplum6guy posted the video of him unblocking a drain using a shovel and the fascinatingly disgusting video has racked up over 7.5 million views since being posted in late May.
“DONT PUT GREASE DOWN YOUR SINK,” the plumber warned in the text overlay.
With a shovel, he pushed a huge light brown chunk out of a pipe, and half of it crumbled into the ground. Gross.

Water began to flow better with him taking the shovel to the final pieces to make the water flow smoothly.
The text also added: [Grease] THE WORST DRAIN BLOCKER OTHER THAN BABY WIPES.
Baby Wipes? Well, it seems these can cause serious issues for plumbers. Similar to grease, baby wipes clog up drains because they don’t break down fully.
But despite the warnings, many people on social media said they don’t plan to change their habits any time soon.

"Up goes the rent, down goes the grease," wrote one user, as another joked: "Rent is going up 300 dollars and they still haven’t fixed my maintenance request I put in 4 months ago. grease only goes in the drain."
“When I was getting evicted, I poured down three big coffee cans of grease of all kinds down the drains,” another person wrote... who might not have been joking.

“The wipes AND the grease is going down the drain as long as my rent is 150% of my paycheck,” a fourth person added.
Others remarked on how they acceptably get rid of the grease, including putting it in old oil cooking bottles and taking them down to the recycling centre.
How do you get rid of it, bin? Drain? Or some other method?
