If you plan on resigning from a job, you usually can't just quit right on the spot.
Typically, you have to work through a notice period before you leave a company, with this often ranging anywhere from two weeks to even two months.
That doesn't mean that people don't quit their jobs on the spot though, as one particular viral video on TikTok has sparked debate on who is in the wrong. See what you think below:
In a short nine-second video, a 24-year-old filmed herself as she informed her boss she would be resigning from her post with immediate effect.

TikToker @potato_munchkin420 (yep, some name) captioned the video with: "I quit my job today."
"I’m sorry, I quit. I’m done," the emotional woman could be heard saying in the TikTok.
Despite it being obvious the TikToker was tearing up as she announced the news, a voice off-camera said: "Well, that’s not very mature."

The TikToker instantly hit back at her colleague, quipping: "You’re not very mature."
In the description to the video, the woman explained how the colleague with the snappy reply was 40 years older than her.
"She's 64 and I'm 24 by the way," she wrote.
Since being uploaded to TikTok last week, the video has been viewed more than 8.5 million times, while also receiving 861,000 likes.

Close to 10,000 TikTok users have flocked to the comments section, with many supporting the woman's decision while also staring their own experiences.
"When I quit my job of 9 years after relentless bullying from upper management, they laughed when I picked up my final check," one person explained.
A second added: "I quit my job a couple years ago, because my boss took advantage of me and made my mental health really bad.

"I took a little time off to see how I would feel before quitting. I came in and handed in my letter of resignation, apologized and all my boss did was read the letter and said, 'Okay, have a great day'.
"She was probably the worst person and boss I ever had."
Others meanwhile offered their support to the woman in the video.
"Her reaction to you quitting was instant validation that it was the right move," one person penned.

While another remarked: "She couldn’t even ask you what was wrong. That was her response. That shows that you deserve better."
Not everyone supported the TikToker leaving with immediate effect, with one user writing: "You should have given a 2 week notice or something. Now your coworkers are prolly gonna have to fill in for you without extra pay."
Another said: "Write a notice letter. It’s a hassle but I’ve seen people getting denied their dream jobs because former employees told them they quit in the spot."
