AI shows what cartoon characters would look like if they were real life animals

Someone's been making merry with the AI again and cooked up a series of beloved cartoon characters in their 'real life' forms.

As you might have guessed a lot of animals don't look all that much like their animated counterparts, though the reasons for that might be obvious.

You might want to see an aardvark talking with his rabbit best friend, but those animals will look really weird unless you take them and make them look a bit more human.

However, since people are using AI for all sorts of things now, someone's turned technology on beloved cartoon characters in an effort to make them look more like they're from 'real life'.

And it's not the first time people have taken AI to cartoons, having created a disturbing deepfaked version of South Park, shown us what The Simpsons would look as people in real life and even had a crack at adding another dimension to Rick and Morty.

As you can probably guess with these AI creations, they're a bit hit and miss, no hedgehog in the world looks like the hero of Sonic the Hedgehog but the AI has cooked up a blue one anyway.

He's even got one of those golden rings he's so fond of collecting, which can somehow save him from certain death as long as he's holding at least one.

As for Donald Duck, the AI has managed to get his outfit right but he looks more friendly than his cartoon counterpart.

Of course, some animated animals drew the short straw on the AI lottery after enjoying being drawn with some human features for long enough.

If you'd watched Arthur, then you'd probably not know what an aardvark looks like since it's nowhere near how he does in the cartoon.

Don't let that stop you from thinking that having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card, however, as that part of the show was spot on.

While some animals work better as cartoons, some cartoons look better as animals as Remy from Ratatouille proves.

He looks a bit better after being run through an AI and it's nice that they found him an appropriately sized chef's outfit for his cooking, instead of having to nestle in Linguini's hair all the time.

Just look at his little paws and his smile from cooking, that's one happy rat.

Speaking of cartoons that should have stayed cartoons, AI generated 'real life' Squidward is downright terrifying, with more of Cthulhu vibe than the Krusty Krab about him.

Even though he's got no tentacles hanging from his mouth, the AI has given Squidward some anyway, though they did manage to capture his miserable expression.

If anything, it looks a little more threatening than grumpy now.

While it might be fun to run these things through an AI at times, the results can occasionally be a bit unsettling.

That's because things which look cute in cartoons don't always translate that well after they've got to follow actual real life examples.

Still, that Donald Duck is undeniably adorable.
