The inside story of Amber Heard and Jason Momoa's difficult relationship while filming Aquaman 2 has been revealed.

James Wan’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, aka Aquaman 2, was released last December. However, it seems as though the filming process went far from swimmingly.

Momoa reprised his as the main superhero, while Heard returned to make her fourth outing as Mera.

The release was marred claims that Warner Bros. wanted to ‘drop the actress’ from the sequel entirely due to her infamous defamation battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp.

In court, Heard testified: “I fought hard to stay in the movie. They didn’t want to include me in the film. I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it.

"That depicted my character and another character, without giving any spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another."

“They basically took a bunch out of my role," she added. "They just removed a bunch.”

However, former president of DC Studios Walter Hamada denied that Warner Bros. had purposefully cut her scenes from the Aquaman movie.

When discussing Heard's character potentially being recast, Hamada cited a distinct lack of chemistry with Momoa as a reason to change.

“They didn’t really have a lot of chemistry together,” the former president said. “The reality is, it’s not uncommon in movies for two leads to not have chemistry.”

Hamada added that while a good on-screen relationship can be created through ‘movie magic and editorial’, it can take a ‘lot of effort to get there’.

At the same time Warner Bros. dropped a trailer for their new movie last September, documents from the Depp-Heard trial surfaced on Reddit.

Citing court documents, Variety reports that Heard said: "Jason said he wanted me fired. Jason drunk — late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too."

A DC spokesperson pushed back on claims made by Heard, telling Variety: "Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom."

While an insider who was on the set in 2021 echoed those sentiments, adding to the outlet: "Jason works his ass off, likes to have a beer once in a while like everyone, but doesn’t show up drunk to set.

"And he isn’t dressing like Johnny Depp. He has always dressed in that bohemian style."
