AMC Boss Wants Another Breaking Bad Spinoff After Better Call Saul Ends

AMC Boss Wants Another Breaking Bad Spinoff After Better Call Saul Ends

Could there be more from the Breaking Bad universe in the future?

The boss of AMC has confirmed that the TV network is hoping for another Breaking Bad spin-off when Better Call Saul finally wraps this summer.

The world of Walter White, Jesse Pinkman, and Saul Goodman has been a beloved place in television since Breaking Bad first aired on AMC back in January 2008.

After five explosive seasons and a whole host of Golden Globe and Emmy Awards, series creator Vince Gilligan kept viewers happy with El-Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019), and six-season spin-off series Better Call Saul.

While the former told concerned fans what happened to Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) after the devastating events of the Breaking Bad finale, the latter revealed how small-time attorney and former con-artist Jimmy McGill became the slimey criminal lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk).

Over the years, Better Call Saul has proven to be so much more than just a spin-off, receiving outstanding critical acclaim, and often thought of as fans as better than its predecessor.

But, to the devastation of fans, the series will soon come to an end with the final episodes of season six set to air this August and answer burning questions like; will it all catch up to Saul (aka Gene Takavic)? Will Gus Fring finally catch Lalo? And, most importantly, what on earth is going to happen to Kim Wexler?!

Following the success of both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, it's no wonder AMC boss Dan McDermott is interested in another series set in the beloved universe.

Speaking in an interview with Variety, McDermott said AMC's door 'is always open' for another spin-off, leaving it up to creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould to make it happen.

He said: "I can tell you that if I could do anything to encourage Vince and Peter to continue on in this universe, I would do it.

"I think you’d have to ask them, but the door is always open and I long for the day my phone rings and Vince, Peter or our friends at Sony call to say, ‘Hey, I think we have another show set in this universe'."

If they do decide to go in on a third series, Vince and Peter have set themselves up nicely, with no shortage of characters from the worlds of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul who fans want to see more from.

Even Rhea Seehorn, who plays Kim on BCS has hinted that the creators have might consider telling more of her character's story in the future – no matter what might or might not happen to her in the series finale.

Speaking to Deadline last month, the actress said: "You know, Peter and Vince have said publicly that though they feel that there are stories, mine included, that are worthwhile to continue to tell, that they do want to step away from this franchise for a beat. So that’s all I can say about that."

The final season of Better Call Saul will conclude on 11 July 2022 on AMC in the US and on Netflix in the UK
