Bizarre link between Breaking Bad's Jesse and High School Musical's Troy is blowing people's minds

There is a very bizarre link between Breaking Bad's Jesse Pinkman and High School Musical's Troy Bolton that has totally gone over many of our heads.

And the idea of the crystal meth dealer walking down the same school hallways as Wildcats basketball player and all-round heart-throb is sending people over the edge.

Talk about a weird crossover.

Zac Efron starred in the hit High School Musical as protagonist, Troy, of the trilogy.

Best known for his many talents - namely the conflicting passions of sport and music - the high-schooler was also the adoring boyfriend of Gabriella Montez, played by Vanessa Hudgens.

Aaron Paul, however, starred alongside the iconic Bryan Cranston who played skilled criminal chemist, Walter White, in AMC's hit crime-drama Breaking Bad.

The pair of actors seemingly couldn't be further apart in terms of just how different their characters were - however, it seems that the unlikely duo could be closer connected than we would have ever thought before.

One Twitter user took to the platform to share with the internet the bizarre discovery she made about the two fictional characters.

She began: "High School Musical 2 came out in 2007 and Breaking Bad came out in 2008."

"They are both set in Albuquerque, New Mexico," the eagle-eyed fan continued, "which means canonically Troy Bolton and Jesse Pinkman could’ve been in school together."

Mind blown.

People couldn't get over the parallel between the two starkly different characters, leading many to theorise over what would have happened if the mismatched pair actually attended the same school.

One Twitter user commented: "Maybe High School Musical was a fever dream and everyone was just high on meth."

"I’d watch this," admitted a second, while a third wrote: "I’m gonna need to see this crossover."

Others even took the time to do the maths and calculate just how far apart in year groups Troy Bolton and Jesse Pinkman would have been if they went to school at the same time.

"If the timeline of Breaking Bad took place with the same five year time span [when] it aired, Jesse would [have] been 19 in 2008 which means he was a senior when Troy was a junior," another Twitter user worked out.

Some were totally blown away by the discovery, with a final fan of the theory writing: "This is the kind of next level pop-culture deep dive I'm all here for.

"Did Walt ever teach chemistry at East High? Did Jesse's love of art and drugs keep him from competing against Troy on the court? Did Jesse, Jane, Gabriella, and Troy ever go to the same party?"

I guess we'll never know...
