In a new interview, Brooke Shields has opened up about her relationship with her late mother, who died in 2012.
Family relationships can certainly be a tricky one. Yes, they may have your best interests at heart, but that doesn't always need mean they are right.
Now, Shields has opened up about her relationship with her mother Teri Shields, saying that her mother never dated anyone because she was 'needy' and 'in love with her'.
Shields is currently doing the media rounds to promote her tell-all documentary Pretty Baby, and on The Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday (11 April), she opened up about her relationship with her mother.

Shields has previously slammed her mom for allowing her to pose naked for a Playboy publication when she was just ten.
On the US chat show, Barrymore related to what Shields had to say, as she shared her own stories about her topsy turvy relationship with her mother Jaid Barrymore.
Barrymore asked Shields if her mother had dated any of her former partners like her mother had.

The actor said: "No, because she was in love with me," before adding that Teri had no interest in men while her daughter's career was taking off.
"I was her main focus. Both of us were cut off from our sexuality," she added.
Barrymore then opened up about her own experiences when her mother Jaid tried the audacious attempt of trying to date her boyfriend.
"My mom was so enamored with me that she wanted to be with the people I was with," the talkshow host said.

Shields responded: "I get it. It's so needy and weird," before adding that Teri would attend every interview she was involved in, which Shields seemingly doesn't agree with now.
"No one's going to get you. I'm going to be there. I'm there first. You're mine. I'm not going to give you to somebody," she added.
"Under the guise of protection, but it was more ownership and fear."

Shields recalled that she didn't realise how problematic her mom's behaviour was at the time, and just felt the pressure to keep going.
"I did a movie and we got a car. All I knew was keep my mother alive, keep dancing and get stuff," Shields concluded.
