Farrell portrayed Oswald 'Oz' Cobblepot, also known as The Penguin, in Reeves' $771 million-grossing global 2022 blockbuster The Batman and now he'll have his own solo series.
Judging by the first look clip, The Penguin will have the dark and foreboding look from Reeves’ Batman film.
Farrell looks almost unrecognisable in the trailer, which was shared as part of the Warner Bros. Discovery promotional release on Wednesday (12 April).

No release date has been announced for the eight-episode series but fans will likely get more details at this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con.
In addition to Farrell as the Gotham City gangster, the cast members include Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Deirdre O’Connell, with Clancy Brown and Michael Zegen recurring.
The hotly anticipated series is executively produced by Reeves with Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, Lauren LeFranc, who both writes and serves as showrunner, Craig Zobel directs the first three episodes, and Bill Carraro.
“You ask yourself, what kind of life do I want?” we hear The Penguin say in a creepy voice-over. “The world isn’t built for guys like us; that’s why we have to take what’s ours.”

Peter Safran and James Gunn, the new DC bosses, have made it clear that Reeves’ Batman is part of their else-verse rather than part of their phase one 'Gods and Monsters' DC universe.
Reeves will direct Batman II which is due to hit cinemas 3 October, 2025. Meanwhile, a live action movie based on The Brave and the Bold is in development under Safran and Gunn, which will focus on Batman's son Damian Wayne.
Gunn also addressed how The Penguin will fit into the fold.

"Matt is working on [The Batman II], which he thinks of as a Batman crime saga, which also includes the Penguin TV series," he said, per IGN.
"And it is its own thing and he's hard at work on that. He came in and pitched us some amazing, really cool stuff the other day. So our plan is for that to continue."
The Penguin is slated to join the HBO Max lineup in 2024.
