This action-thriller, also starring Alia Bhatt and Jamie Dornan, follows the intelligence operative as she races to stop a hacker from stealing her global peacekeeping agency’s most valuable weapon.
During an exclusive interview with UNILAD, Gadot - who is also a producer on the movie - made comparisons between her latest project and the Wonder Woman franchise.
The 38-year-old plays the titular superhero in the DC films, which she says are also ‘told from a female point of view’.
“We're not doing anything actively to show that it's feminine. It's feminine in its DNA, because the protagonist is a female character. And same thing goes here [with Heart of Stone],” Gadot said.

But Wonder Woman fans may still be wondering just when they’ll get a third instalment of the movies.
The second film, Wonder Woman 1984, was released in 2020 - with fans since speculating what would be happening with DC’s extended universe.
Henry Cavill has already left as Superman and Ben Affleck has stepped down as Batman, but Gadot is staying in the game - promising a third Wonder Woman is happening... it’s just not gone totally as planned.

Gadot told UNILAD they were supposed to be shooting the third film ‘this summer’ in London with Patty Jenkins, using the script she wrote.
However, the star said ‘unfortunately, that’s not going to happen’.
There is still good news though, as Gadot recalled a conversation with DC Studios leaders James Gunn and Peter Zafran.
“They said, ‘You’re in the best hands, you’ve got nothing to worry about. We’re going to make the Wonder Woman three with you.’

“And so, time will tell.”
While we wait for the third superhero film, this new Netflix movie might fill the Wonder Woman shaped hole in fans’ lives, as Heart of Stone features plenty of stunt work from Gadot, from hand-in-hand combat to motorbiking.
It was important to Gadot that unlike Wonder Woman, Rachel Stone gets properly roughed up.

Producer Bonnie Curtis said: “Gal already has her superhero franchise, and she was very clear early on that she wanted to bleed in this movie, she wanted to have bruises, she wanted to be sweaty, human, and authentic. “
Heart of Stone is in limited UK cinemas and on Netflix from 11 August.
In light of the SAG-AFTRA strikes, this interview with Gadot took place in June 2023.
