Disney's Strange World - which features its first openly teenage character - bombs at the box office despite fans giving it great reviews.
Director Don Hall said the film was 'inspired by classic adventure stories'.
“Strange World is an original animated adventure/comedy about three generations of the Clade family who overcome their differences while exploring a strange, wondrous and oftentimes hostile world,” he explains.
Jaboukie Young-White plays Searcher’s 16-year-old son, Ethan, who is openly gay in the film.

Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Searcher Clade, 'a family man who finds himself out of his element on an unpredictable mission'.
Dennis Quaid also plays Searcher’s 'larger-than-life explorer father, Jaeger' in what's a pretty star-studded cast.
However, Strange World's $180 million budget meant that the film would need a decent Box Office showing, which unfortunately hasn't been the case, as Variety reports.
The animation reportedly grossed just $4.2 million on Wednesday, which means a five-day total of just under $24 million.

Bizarrely, social media has been largely positive about the film, with one person writing: "Strange World is good so far why are people so determined to hate it."
A second person added: "Went to see Strange World tonight and the movie was amazing, had such a good time and the emotions in it was really something and the end surprised me, didn't expected that tbh and of course the animations is top notch."
Others tweeted: "STRANGE WORLD IS SO GOOD," and: "It was sooo good!"

Although, there were no doubt some negative reviews, with one person tweeting: "Got to be the worst Disney Movie of all time. Kids hated it and so did we. Too many hidden meanings that went way over their head and forced humor that was never funny."
Another thought: "hat's a HAAAAARD pass. None of my kids are watching this. Lol. [sic]"
The official synopsis for the film reads: "The feature film introduces a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an uncharted, treacherous land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog and a slew of ravenous creatures."

Also joining them is Gabrielle Union, who stars as Meridian Clade, an accomplished pilot and Searcher’s partner in all things.
And Lucy Liu also comes in as Callisto Mal, Avalonia’s 'fearless leader who spearheads the exploration into the strange world'.
Strange World is available to watch in cinema now.
