It looks like Danny DeVito could be reprising his iconic role in the Hercules live-action remake.
Guy Ritchie has signed up to direct the flick after making Disney a cool billion dollars with his reboot of Aladdin.
The original film debuted in 1997 and focused on the son of Zeus who becomes a hero and saves Olympus from Hades.

While he might have lost his immortality at the beginning of the movie, he holds onto his superhuman strength and wows the human world with his powers.
However, he couldn't have done that without Philoctete, or more affectionately known as Phil.
The half-man, half-goat helped Hercules train to become the best he could be and take on the God of the Underworld.

The character was voiced by the one and only Danny DeVito and it's hard to imagine anyone else bringing the same grit and epic attitude.
But, ever since the live-action remake was announced, everyone has been wondering who will take on the role.
The DisInsider reports we'll be getting what we want.
The outlet said: "Let me dive in by giving you all a little 'rumor of the week', while nothing is confirmed at this time, the expectation is the studio will bring back DeVito as Phil."

Let's hope they are right because that would be epic news.
Disney has pumped out a bunch of live-action remakes of their incredible animated movies.
However, the studio has typically opted to bring in new talent for these reboots.

There was one exception with James Earl Jones, who voiced Mufasa in both the animated film and the 2019 live-action movie.
Thankfully for us, it seems like DeVito is very keen on the idea.
He joked when asked if he'd return to the franchise during the WIRED Autocomplete Interview last year."I am the live-action Hercules.
"If they don’t put me in that, they don’t have a hair on their a**."

There's no word on when we can expect to see this movie on the big screen or who else has been taped for other roles.
The only thing we know right now is that Ritchie is directing it and it's being produced by the Russo brothers (Avengers: Endgame, The Gray Man).
All eyes will be on who will get to play the leading man and there is no shortage of buff Hollywood stars that can sing.
UNILAD has contacted Danny DeVito's representatives for a comment.
