Disney fans are taking to social media in heated debate after realizing some of the classic movie scenes have been edited.

It's not just some classic children's books which are being edited and re-published, but now some of the most iconic Disney movies are apparently under attack too.

A since-deactivated Reddit user took to the thread r/Disney to question: "Did Disney+ edit Lilo and Stitch?"

They continued: "When I was a kid, I remember Lilo hid in a dryer until she thought Nani left and then Nani catches her. Now when I watch it on Disney+ she hides in a desk thing with a pizza box. Am I misremembering or did they edit it?"

Others confirmed the user's suspicions, however, one noted it wasn't a change 'for Disney+' but for the 'home release'.

A Twitter user even shared a side-by-side comparison of the scene, adding: "Imma warn yall again yall better start getting physical media before it’s gone."

Indeed, in the video you can see Lilo come crawling out of a clearly marked pizza box on the left, opposed to a washing machine on the right.

But why? Well, it's not taken long for Disney fans to rain in.

Some reasoned with the change, with one Twitter user noting: "It was a safety issue. Kids die hiding in washers/ dryers so they changed it."

"Does this small change really affect the story at all? Like I get physical copy and nostalgia but it's a small change either way," another argued.

However, others weren't having it.

"Why disney trying to disney-fy their own content??? like yes Pinocchio smoked a cigar. Doesn’t mean kids REALLY wanted to try a cigar," one user said.

A second added: "YO WHATTTT i high key gaslight myself sometimes when i rewatch old disney films like 'I was sure it was this before but I'm prob remembering wrong' NAH THEY CHANGING S**T."

While a third resolved: "I f**king KNEW THAT WASNT A PIZZA BOX BEFORE."

And it's not just Lilo and Stitch which has fallen victim to some tweaking here and there either.

Toy Story 2 has seen a cheeky cut made to its credit scene, with viewers no longer able to spot Stinky Pete flirting with two Barbie dolls - the scene a nod to the 'casting couch', Newsweek reports.

Hannah Montana also saw a tweak, with a character who appeared in season two episode 26 having their name changed from 'Isis' to 'Ice'.

After the release of documentary Leaving Neverland, an episode of season three featuring the voice of Michael Jackson was removed from The Simpsons.

And in The Lion King, after some people reported being able to see 'sex' written in the stars - despite it actually reading 'SFX' - the stars got wiped of any hidden messages too.

So, what do you think?
