Dolly Parton's extreme morning routine involves getting up at 3am every day

Despite singing about working 9 to 5, Dolly Parton seems to put in even more hours with her insane morning routine.

She may be the undisputed queen of country music, but Dolly Parton has an insane morning routine that comes with that title.

In fact, the 77-year-old recently revealed that she wakes up incredibly early as some of her ‘best writing’ comes in the wee hours.

Whilst most people would be thinking of slowing down, it seems the 9 to 5 singer is doing the exact opposite.

During her recent interview with Ru Paul for Marie Claire Magazine, the country musician and actress joked that she was ‘a very, very early riser’.

She also admitted to the Drag Race star that she will often struggle to go back to sleep once she’s up during the early hours.

“If I wake up and I’m pretty well awake, I think, ‘I’ve got so much to do,’ I’ll get up and I’ll work a little while, write a little while, and I’ll lay back down,” Parton revealed.

If you are wondering what time the 'Jolene' singer’s alarm goes off, most mornings she’s awake around 3 am.

Though most of us would struggle with anything at this time, the veteran performer revealed that she’s comfortable with just three to five hours sleep.

However, the Dollywood owner doesn’t seem to mind as she gets some of her ‘best’ work done during these hours.

After brief meditation and prayer, Parton then gets to work.

“I have my little meditations I do, my little scriptures that I read, and all that. That’s how I start my day,” she told Charles, adding: “Some of my best spiritual work, some of my best writing, and some of my business work—call-ins and letters that I’m writing or whatever.”

Without the distraction of others around her, the star revealed that she feels pretty zen from 3 to 7am as she focuses on the start of her day.

“I get more work done during that little period of time when the world is calm, energies are down, and I just feel like a farmer,” she revealed.

“They say the early bird gets the worm. Well, they also get a lot of good ideas too.”

After that, it’s either a ‘little power nap’ or straight on to breakfast - with Parton’s husband occasionally treating her to ‘some sausage patties, biscuits and milk gravy’.

“Now, I can’t eat like that all the time, but I enjoy eating it when I do,” she added, saying that she then continues on with her day.

Would you be willing to give up sleep for a 3 am start like Dolly?
