The Umbrella Academy star Elliot Page has said he is 'really happy' at the response to his character's transition in the show.
Page, who came out as transgender in 2020, has seen his character Viktor Hargreeves also transition in the third season of The Umbrella Academy.
The 35-year-old actor has been a main cast member on the Netflix show – which focuses on a family of superhero siblings – since it first landed on the streaming service in 2019.

Season three picks up where the second one left off, with the Hargreeves family managing to prevent an apocalypse in 1963 only to find their home renamed as 'The Sparrow Academy' and playing host to another family of superpowered siblings.
When Page came out as transgender, it was quickly made clear that his part on the show wouldn't be affected, and it was announced earlier this year that the character would be transitioning too.
There has been plenty of positive fan reaction, and Page has spoken about his happiness that the transition has been so well received by The Umbrella Academy fanbase.

Speaking to Good Morning America, Page explained that he'd had 'such an incredible experience' working with showrunner Steve Blackman and writer Thomas Page McBee to get the transition right.
The transition is part of Viktor's storyline for season three and Page spoke about how showrunner Blackman had taken the matter seriously and asked him for his input on how it should be handled.
He explained he was 'really proud with what we came up with' for Viktor's character and spoke of the warm fan reaction to the transition.

He said: "So far it seems really positive which makes me feel happy in terms of the representation and hopefully it meaning something to people."
Fans have been on social media praising the way The Umbrella Academy has handled Viktor's transition, especially the warm acceptance from the rest of his siblings.
One fan said it was nice to see that supporting Viktor's transition was 'literally the only way in which the Hargreeves siblings aren't incredibly dysfunctional'.

They described the support for Viktor's transition from his fellow siblings as 'beautiful'.
Someone else said they could see that Page's 'happiness just overflows' after transitioning and praised the joy shining through from the character on screen.
Page has previously spoken about feeling the 'greatest joy' since transitioning, recognising the 'love and support' from many people while also noting that some had responded with 'hatred and cruelty and vitriol'.
Season three of the Umbrella Academy is available to stream now on Netflix.
