Millie Bobby Brown had a starring role at the German Comic Con this week, but instead of listening what she had to say about Stranger Things, many fans found themselves distracted by her accent.
The 18-year-old appeared at the event in Dortmund, Germany on 16 July where she sang the praises of her co-star Joseph Quinn following the release of Stranger Things 4.
Due to the various locations in which the fourth series took place Brown never actually appeared in a scene with Quinn - who plays Eddie - but that didn't stop her describing his performance as 'amazing' while addressing the crowd.

Those who've seen Stranger Things might not find anything particularly strange with Brown's accent, as she sounds pretty similar to how she does in the series. It only becomes confusing when you take into account the fact the actor is English - not American, as she is depicted in the show.
Elements of her Englishness came through at certain points, for example when she said, "I'm sure that was also his idea" - but she also appears to slide back into character on occasion as she sounds more American.

After footage of Brown's appearance was shared online, one viewer responded: "Why is she speaking with an American accent?"
Another questioned: "Why does her accent keep switching[?]"
One fan suggested the actor had trouble sticking to one accent 'because she is used to doing an American accent in her roles', while another claimed: "Accents can change depending on the environment after some time."

The video came after a fan mentioned a viral TikTok inspired by the scene of Eddie shouting for Chrissy to 'wake up', which has since been turned into a song. After asking the crowd to sing the song, Brown admitted it was 'weird' that it existed, but conceded that Quinn had done 'an amazing job' in the scene, adding: "He’s very, very good.”
Fans quickly fell in love with both Eddie and Quinn after he made his first appearance in the first episode of series four, but unfortunately they weren't able to celebrate the actor at German Comic Con due to an issue with Quinn's passport.
Announcing news of his cancelled appearance, German Comic Con wrote: "A few days ago he had to hand in his passport to the UK authorities for a USA work visa... The possibility that he will get his passport back tomorrow before he takes off on his flight is close to zero."
Though Quinn wasn't able to appear, the singing of his viral TikTok song proved he remained at the forefront of the crowd's minds.
