After dropping hints over the weekend, Paramount has released the final trailer for the second outing of Sonic The Hedgehog, and we've finally been given a better look at Knuckles.
Off the back of the success of the first movie (and that terrifying original Sonic design), fans of the iconic video game character were hyped when a sequel was announced in 2020, starring Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik and Ben Schwartz as the titular hedgehog himself.
The long-awaited trailer opens with the speedster reuniting with his friend Tom, hilariously interrupting a wedding in the process. Dr Robotnik is back, and he's on the hunt for the Chaos Emeralds.

Check out the trailer below:
'After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero,' the film's official synopsis reads. 'His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.'
The trailer also gave us a proper look at Knuckles, the red echidna tricked by the evil Dr. Robotnik into thinking Sonic wants to take the Master Emerald. Fans went crazy after it was announced Sonic's 'frenemy' would be voiced by Idris Elba, so much so that the Luther star had to clarify he wouldn't be making the famed echidna 'sexy'.

‘I wouldn’t say he was sexy. I don’t think I’m going for that. That’s for sure,’ Elba earlier told Screen Rant. Glad we cleared that one up.
The forthcoming sequel is also set to star the likes of James Marsden, who is reprising is role as Sonic's human pal Tom, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally and Shemar Moore, with Jeff Fowler in the director's chair, as per Polygon.
Reactions have been strong to the new trailer, to say the least. 'Super stoked. This looks so bananas and fun. That Winter Solider line had me dying', wrote one user, while another said: 'This is gonna be THE video game movie all are compared to'.

'Now we’re talking! Huge adventure, here we go…', commented another.
