Fans shocked after seeing insane amount the Friends cast still make each year from the series

Friends fanatics have been left shocked after discovering the insane amount the cast still makes each year from the series.

It was May 6, 2004 when Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Phoebe and Joey put down their keys and left Monica's flat in New York City. It was the end of an era.

After the years of the much-beloved sitcom featuring a ton of laughs, romances and drama, Friends was officially over.

Despite the series concluding over 20 years ago now, the cast of the sitcom are still making mega-bucks from it today.

As per a report by USA Today, Friends provides a whopping $1 billion each year for Warner Bros.

But how does that translate to the cast?

Well, the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer take an annual pay check of $20 million, despite the fact Friends finished two decades ago.

The figure has shocked many fans, with one person penning on Instagram: "Crazy that they earn that much money every year."

"I’m responsible for like half of that," a second joked.

The Friends cast celebrated the 20th anniversary of the show back in May, though it was all bittersweet after the loss of Matthew Perry last year.

Perry tragically died in October last year after being found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home.

The LA County Medical Examiner’s Office determined in December that Perry died of 'acute effects of ketamine', adding the manner of the death was accidental.

The autopsy also listed drowning, coronary artery disease, and the opioid buprenorphine as contributors to his death.

Following his tragic passing, the Friends cast issued a joint statement paying tribute to their friend and colleague.

They penned: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.

"There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.

"In time we will say more, as and when we are able.

"For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

Each member also issued their own individual statement, with Cox writing: ""I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day.

"When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here’s one of my favorites."
