Some of the biggest names in acting were able to make bank in 2023, but the top spot has left some people stunned.

While actors in Hollywood often get to bring in the biggest bucks, there are still levels to this.

Being in a film is always an accomplishment but being a key part in a film that brings in billions of dollars, now that is something different entirely.

With that being said, earning a couple million dollars from your films in 2023 isn’t enough to get you a spot on the top ten highest-paid actors list.

In fact, coming in at number 10 is Denzel Washington and he brought in $28 million. So like I said there are levels to this.

If you wanted to know the full list of estimated earnings it is as follows:

10. Denzel Washington - $28 million

9. Ben Affleck - $38 million

8. Jason Statham - $41 million

7. Leonardo DiCaprio - $41 million

6. Jennifer Aniston - $42 million

5. Matt Damon - $43 million

4. Ryan Gosling - $43 million

3. Tom Cruise - $45 million

2. Margot Robbie - $59 million

The Rest is Entertainment podcast hosts Richard Osman and Marina Hyde discussed the list earlier this year in March and were both surprised over who took the number one top spot.

Osman said: “Margot Robbie is on there not at number one at number two, acting fees for Barbie but also producing.

“But number one on the list I think is very interesting, because as far as I know, he didn’t have a theatrical movie in the cinemas at all last year.

“But he made roughly $100 million and it is Adam Sandler.”

Now, Adam Sandler would likely come as a surprise to many, but the pair explained that it is due to his ongoing Netflix deal that allows him to bring in such high amounts.

Hyde continued: “He has a massive deal with Netflix, they looked at what was doing well and people who once would have gone out and seen Adam Sandler comedies in the movie theatres now were at home, they were parents.

"Adam Sandler’s stuff was doing unbelievably on the platform and they thought ‘we’ll do a deal with this guy because this guy, everybody is watching."

Other people were just as stunned, as a Reddit thread made jokes about Sandler being able to take home so much cash.

“If someone told me in 1995 that Adam Sandler would become a higher paid actor than tom cruise i would have laughed in their face,” wrote one user.

“Adam Sandler has it f**king made with Netflix. Just show up at the studio, be Adam Sandler, and rocket to the highest paid actor of 2023,” another added.

“Shoutout to Adam for having his movies being paid vacations for his friends,” a third joked.
