Jeff Bezos’s son proved his allegiance to the one ring that rules them all when he warned his dad not to ‘f**k up’ Amazon Prime’s new show, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Speaking at The Rings of Power’s premiere on Tuesday (30 August), Bezos revealed his family are huge fans of JRR Tolkien’s groundbreaking novels and that his grandad introduced him to Middle-earth when he was just a teenager.
Bezos told the audience: “My grandfather’s the one who introduced me to Tolkien. I fell in love immediately, I was probably 13 or 14 years old.”

The Amazon founder went on: “I fell in love with the adventure of course, with the detailed universe, with the feelings of hope and optimism, with the idea that everybody has a role to play.”
He then revealed the stern warning his son gave him, continuing: “And I’m happy to report that that cycle continues today. My kids have become Tolkien fans as well.
“In fact, one of my boys I think approaches the level of a Tolkien scholar he knows so much about this universe. And after Amazon got involved in this project, my son came up to me one day, he looked me in the eyes, very sincerely, and he said: ‘Dad, please don’t f**k this up’.”

Bezos concluded: “And he was right. We know that this world is important to so many people, we know it’s a privilege to work inside this world and we know it’s a big responsibility.”
The Rings of Power hits Prime on 2 September and critics were blown away by the show in previews.
Set in the Second Age of Middle Earth – thousands of years before Bilbo and Frodo Baggins’ time – Amazon says the television series 'will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin'.

The streaming giant adds that viewers will also get to see one of the greatest villains that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen as he threatens to cover the world of elves, dwarves, and men in darkness.
Just like the Jackson films, the eight-episode first season was also filmed in New Zealand, which will give fans a sense of continuity in landscape when compared with the films.
Are we excited to see it? We. Can’t. Freakin’. Wait.
