We may not have seen the last of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow - well, that's if Pirates Of The Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer has anything to do with it.
The movie mogul, who's also behind franchises like National Treasure, Beverly Hills Cop and Top Gun, was asked last week if he thought Johnny could return as the beloved Disney character, to which he replied: "We're still working on it."
Since then, Jerry has opened up a little more about his thoughts on Johnny's potential return - and it's looking pretty good for Captain Jack.
Johnny starred in all five Pirates of the Caribbean films spanning from 2003 to 2017, but plans for him to appear in a sixth and final film were put on hold indefinitely as a result of the actor's court case.

The fifth film of the franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales, had been described by director Joachim Ronning as the 'beginning of the finale'.
However, during his gruelling defamation case against Amber Heard, Johnny alluded to a rather strained relationship with Disney, after the company made the decision to block him from the Pirates franchise until a verdict was reached on the trial 'to be safe'.
Eventually, Johnny went on to win his defamation trial against Heard and was awarded $15 million in damages, while Heard was awarded $2 million in one of her own defamation claims.

Since the win, there have been talks of Johnny returning to acting, after the star lost out on some iconic roles as a result of the case.
Expanding on his original hint at Captain Jack Sparrow's return, Jerry Bruckheimer told The Hollywood Reporter that he'd 'love' to have Johnny back.
Asked if Disney would consider having Johnny back, Jerry replied: "You’d have to ask them. I can’t answer that question.
"I really don’t know. I would love to have him in the movie.

"He’s a friend, a terrific actor and it’s unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do."
Asked his thoughts on what an ending for Jack Sparrow might look like, he insisted: "You can’t. We tried to kill him. It didn’t work."
Although Jerry might be up for Jack Sparrow's return, Johnny himself might not be.
In the midst of his defamation case earlier this year, Johnny confirmed that 'nothing on earth' would convince him to go back to the franchise.

Amber Heard's attorney Ben Rottenborn asked him during the trial: “The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film? Correct?”
Johnny simply replied: “That is true, Mr. Rottenborn.”
So, don't get your hopes up too high just yet.

On the bright side, Jerry did confirm that, despite Margot Robbie's claims, her rumoured Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off was still on the cards.
"It’s alive for me. It’s alive for Disney", Jerry assured.
"I’m sure she was disappointed it didn’t go first - or maybe not because she’s very busy, so it might be a blessing to push this a bit. We believe we’ll get it made. It’s a very strong story."
