John Cena earned a staggering $2.5 million for his 'awkward' sex scene with Amy Schumer in Trainwreck.
The star landed himself a pretty hefty payday after his brief, but nonetheless iconic, cameo in the 2015 hit rom-com directed by Judd Apatow.
As cringe-worthy as it may have been, it's clear it was most definitely worth it.

The film's synopsis reads: "A young magazine writer (Schumer) is made to believe that relationships and marriages hold no value. However, a meeting with a sports doctor (Bill Hader) forces her to rethink her principles."
Distributed by Universal Pictures, the movie had a somewhat humble budget of $35 million but went on to rake in a whopping $140.8 million at the box-office.
While Schumer was joined by a whole cast of star-studded A-listers - there was one actor who really took the plot to a whole new level.

None other than the WWE legend himself, John Cena rocked up to the set to embark in, arguably, one of the most 'awkward' sex scenes in cinematic history.
But, it's clear the move paid off - quite literally - as it wound up in a multi-million-dollar payday for the star.
In the movie, Cena and Schumer's characters are in an in an on-and-off casual relationship.

So casual that the wrestler-turned-actor was on only on screen for a grand total of three scenes at the very beginning of the flick.
Regardless, this clearly didn't have an effect on the salary attached to the role.
"Despite only appearing in the beginning of Trainwreck (in three scenes), John Cena made a reported $2.5 million," Buzzfeed reports.
Talk about some bang for your buck.

Cena has since revealed his thoughts on his cameo, telling ScreenRant: "I’ve been very much looking to do a comedy for quite some time. When you’re a WWE superstar you’re kind of stuck in the television world, and that’s where I was spending most of my time.
"I was approached to audition for Trainwreck, but it wasn’t a sure shot though. Then I got asked back to do a table read with Amy and Judd and got cast in the movie from there…It’s a fun atmosphere to be a part of, this project especially."
The star continued: "Working with Amy and Judd [Apatow] was fantastic and I would clock in and just laugh the whole day."

While he may have loved working on set with the crew and other stars, Cena has been extremely honest about the on-screen romping.
Talking to Conan O’Brien about the sex scene, Cena recalled, "It was awkward. And they wanted awkward, so we gave them awkward."
They sure did.
