The Punisher has a long history in the Marvel universe, from the 2004 film with Thomas Jane as the character, to Dolph Lundgren even taking a shot at it in the 1989 movie.
The famed Marvel character was last on our TV screen with the TV series The Punisher for Netflix, which had Jon Bernthal playing the antihero.
The American actor is known for his roles in The Wolf of Wall Street, Baby Driver, and has even appeared as the main antagonist in video game Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

Arguably though, Bernthal is best known for his role playing The Punisher in the Netflix series that ran from 2017 to 2019.
Well, it looks as though Bernthal may be reprising this role in Disney+'s Daredevil Born again, which is set to release sometime in 2024.
According to entertainment insiders KC Walsh and Charles Murphy, John Bernthal will return to the MCU sooner than we thought, as The Punisher will be included in the new reboot show.

The pair have correctly got things right about future MCU projects before they were announced, including information on Spider-Man: No Way Home in the past.
The Punisher is set to replace another Marvel show in Jessica Jones due to scheduling conflicts with actor Krysten Ritter.
Marvel fan and podcaster Tom Smith was able to contact Murphy to get further clarification on the claims made by the insiders.
Based on his dialogue with Murphy, Tom took to Twitter revealing his findings: "Basically Born Again is re-introducing the Netflix characters to the mainstream and they planned to bring in Ritter but there’s a scheduling problem for Born Again.

"So they needed another Netflix star to the fill the role. It’s Jon Bernthal. Wouldn’t be shocked if Ritter cameos tho."
As for other Marvel films and shows, Charlie Cox has already been confirmed to be returning to the role of Matt Murdock for Daredevil Born Again when the show hits Disney +.
Since it was announced Cox would be returning as Daredevil, the actor has done many interviews about the new show as fans get excited.

In a interview with the publication Extra at D23 expo, Cox revealed a few more details about the 2024 show: It is a Season 1, it is not Season 4, so it is a whole new thing.
"Which I think is the way to go. If you are going to do it again, do it differently."
