Euphoria star Maude Apatow has opened up on how she feels being called being called a 'nepotism baby' in a recent interview.

A person is often referred to a 'nepotism baby' in Hollywood when they have famous parents who people believe have helped them get an advantage earlier on in their career to help them get to where they are today.

The basic premise is that without famous parents, the 'nepotism baby' wouldn't have got to the levels of success they have today.

Maude's parents are filmmaker Judd Apatow and actor Leslie Mann.

Well, the American actor has hit back on these claims in a recent interview with Net-a-Porter, where she has said she felt 'a little sad' when she first learnt that people thought she was a 'nepotism baby'.

Apatow said: "I try not to let it get to me because I obviously understand that I'm in such a lucky position.

"A lot of people [in a similar position] have proven themselves over the years, so I've got to keep going and make good work."

The Euphoria actor notes that she is still in the early stages of her career but says she hopes one day she'll 'be really proud of the stuff I've done by [herself]'.

She also says she takes a lot of advice from her famous parents, in particular her father Judd Apatow.

She said: "My dad always told me acting is tough because you never know what's going to come next. He always encouraged me to write.

"You can shoot a movie and really hope it will work, but you don't know how they're gonna edit it. To not have any control of that is scary sometimes, so I try to do other things."

The actor also allows her father to look over her work for potential improvements, she said: "I'll wait until I'm almost done and then get notes from him.

"I get annoyed because he'll come up with a better idea, but he's super helpful. So is my mom."

She added: "I feel like I really need to prove myself, so I work extra hard."
