A new docu-series detailing the rise of Spotify is being praised by Netflix users who have described it as 'the best original' released by the streamer in a long time.
Now used by millions of people as their go-to music platform, Spotify was founded in 2006 and features everything from chart hits and alternative albums to murder podcasts and audiobooks.
It was created by Martin Lorentzon and Daniel Ek, who form the focus for Netflix's new series which arrived on the streaming service last week.

You'll need more than just your ears to learn about Spotify this time:
Titled The Playlist, the series is adapted by the 2021 book The Spotify Play: How CEO and Founder Daniel Ek Beat Apple, Google, and Amazon in the Race for Audio Dominance.
It stars Edvin Endre as Daniel Ek, and is depicted as a 'fictionalised' account of how Spotify went from being an idea to a platform with more than 430 million users during a time when pirating music was rife.

I'm sure we all remember the days of listening to dodgy downloads complete with bizarre little introductions or adverts that the songwriter definitely didn't intent to get on there - but Ek managed to convince millions of us to give up that life in exchange for a better quality music listening experience.
After watching the events of the series play out, many Netflix users took to social media to spread the word about the series, which has also been described by Tech Radar as 'the best drama this writer has seen in 2022'.
In a post on Twitter, one fan wrote: "I’m convinced that The Playlist on @netflix is the best original I have seen on the platform in a while."

"Finished watching The Playlist yesterday on @netflix. The story of Spotify, amazing journey, beautifully directed. Haven't watched such a magnetic series in a long time. Highly recommend," another viewer posted, while a third commented: "the Spotify drama The Playlist on Netflix is really phenomenally good drama. Series that do each episode from a different character's perspective can be exceptional if written & plotted well, which this absolutely is. A subject I find fascinating too."
Though Netflix's version of the events adds a little extra drama for our entertainment, the fact that so many of us have Spotify installed on our phones right now proves that the creators' venture paid off.
Also starring in The Playlist is Christian Hillborg as Ek's business partner, Lorentzon, as well as Gizem Erdogan, Ulf Stenberg, Severija Janusauskaite, Ella Rappich and Joel Lützow.
