Tim Burton's new series Wednesday has just dropped on Netflix and it's already beaten an Addams Family record.
The comedy series follows the Addams Family's only daughter (Jenna Ortega) as she attends Nevermore Academy.
Between mastering her new psychic abilities and solving the mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago, Wednesday has a lot on her plate, and yet she still managed to make the spin-off the highest-rated Addams Family property to date. Pretty impressive.
Even though the series has had very mixed critical reviews so far, Netflix users absolutely adore it, giving it a fan score of 88 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

That's the highest score on the film-ranking website that any Addams Family production has ever seen.
While the supernatural family first appeared as a New Yorker cartoon, the first TV adaption dates all the way back to 1964.
Even though it only ran for two seasons, it remained a huge part of pop culture thanks to its regular re-runs.
In both 1992 and 1998, there were attempts to reboot the Addams Family - but none of the three TV series have been reviewed yet on Rotten Tomatoes.

However, the Addams Family TV shows were followed by five different Addams Family films - and they all have pretty average rankings
First, there were three different live-action films; The Addams Family, which got a rating of 66 percent, Addams Family Values at a less-impressive 63 percent, and Addams Family Reunion in 1998, which has a shocking 33 percent ranking.
More recently, there were two Addams family animated films; 2019's The Addams Family, and 2021's The Addams Family 2. Both films have a fan score of 69 percent.

That makes Tim Burton's spin-off series Wednesday the reigning champion, with a triumphant 88 percent. It also boasts an impressive 72 percent critic rating.
That being said, it still had a very mixed bag of reviews.
"If CW dramas are your jam, you might like Wednesday," wrote one unimpressed critic. "I was mostly bored and found the plot machinations predictable."
On the other end of the spectrum, another mused: "Tim Burton strike the perfect chord with the positive yet creepy tone, and Jenna Ortega shines as the dead-pan heroine."

Alongside Jenna Ortega, the new series stars Luiz Guzman as Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.
But is it really the best Addams Family production we've ever had?
Wednesday is available to stream now on Netflix.
