People are calling a Netflix horror movie 'one of the scariest films' they've ever seen.
Spooky season is well and truly here, so people will be on the hunt for the scariest films possible.
Arguably some of the best horror movies to date have been found-footage films such as The Blair Witch Project, Creep, and Host - and this Taiwanese movie might be one of your new favourites.

Titled Incantation, the movie was released in 2022 and people are still raving about it now.
Adding to its appeal, Incantation is the highest grossing Taiwanese horror film of all time. It's said to have had $1 million budget and made almost six times this upon release, Metro reported.
The synopsis for it reads: "Six years ago, Li Ronan is cursed after breaking a religious taboo; now, she must protect her daughter from the consequences of her actions."

Despite the description making it sound reasonably tame, people have hailed it as 'the scariest movie [they've] seen'.
A Twitter user posted: "I urge every horror movie fan to watch Incantation (2022) on Netflix. It’s a Taiwanese found footage horror movie. The scariest horror movie i’ve seen in years."
"INCANTATION (2022) is Taiwanese Ritual horror done right," gushed another.

Going on to note that the movie is (as ever when it comes to horror) reportedly inspired by true events, their rave review continued: "It's spooky, scary and all the more jittery when you know it's based on a true story. Real good writing, acting and engaging throughout. Probably the only well done ritual horror after The Wailing. Streaming on Netflix."
Another film buff said that while Incantation was 'not without flaws', it still had 'nerve-racking staging, biting atmosphere & a neat spin on why the footage gets found'.
Someone else even went as far as suggesting that the movie itself is cursed.
Taking to Netflix Bangers, they urged others: "WARNING: This is a cursed video, it might contain certain risks to watch."

Elsewhere Incantation has a 77 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer and a 63 percent Audience Score.
The true story that the horror is inspired by is about a family-of-six in Taiwan’s Gushan District. In 2005, they claimed that they had all been possessed by various Chinese folk deities.
They then proceeded accuse each other of being under the influence of demons and started attack one another.

The eldest daughter ended up dying as a result of her injuries after the rest of her family turned on her.
Incantation is now streaming on Netflix.
