Netflix viewers can't get over 'best drama' that's so good they're binging it in one weekend

Stephen Graham stars in the hit TV mini-series that he co-wrote

A new four-part drama has been released on Netflix that has received a monster score of 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Viewers of the mini-series, starring acting royalty Stephen Graham, have flooded Twitter celebrating all those involved in the UK-based drama - applauding it as the 'best drama', which will see everyone involved 'getting an Emmy'.

The series, directed by Philip Barantini - best known for shooting Boiling Point, where he cast Graham in the leading role, stars 15-year-old Owen Cooper - making his onscreen debut - as well as Top Boy's Ashley Walters.

Impressively, each hour-long episode is filmed in one continuous shot.

The synopsis reads: "When a 13-year-old is accused of the murder of a classmate, his family, therapist and the detective in charge are all left asking what really happened."

The show is called Adolescence and is available to stream on Netflix. It was co-written by Graham alongside Jack Thorne.

Speaking about the idea behind the drama, Graham told the streaming giant: "One of our aims was to ask, ‘What is happening to our young men these days, and what are the pressures they face from their peers, from the internet, and from social media?'

"And the pressures that come from all of those things are as difficult for kids here as they are the world over.

"We could have made a drama about gangs and knife crime, or about a kid whose mother is an alcoholic or whose father is a violent abuser."

Adding: "Instead, we wanted you to look at this family and think, ‘My God. This could be happening to us!’ And what’s happening here is an ordinary family’s worst nightmare."

Taking to Twitter, users celebrated Adolescence.

"Finished #Adolescence, what an incredible show. We genuinely do not talk enough about the greatness of Stephen Graham. This final scene had me bawling," one person wrote.

Of Owen's role, another added: "The way he tried everything in his mental and physical capacity to intimidate her and to shut her up, is what scares me so so much about the next generation of 'men' … #Adolescence on netflix is truly a brilliantly crafted show."

"10 min into #Adolescence and the acting??? Everybody’s getting an Emmy," a third penned.

While another typed: "My goodness. Just watched the first episode of ‘Adolescence’ on Netflix. Anyone who’s worked in film or tv will know just how unbelievably hard a long tracking shot is to do, let alone for an entire episode… what choreography!

"Astonishing acting, writing & crew work."
