Netflix fans are rewatching this ‘brilliant and bittersweet’ series with near-percent Rotten Tomatoes score ‘again and again’

The show features a stellar cast of famous voices

A Netflix original series hailed as fans' 'favorite show' has viewers revisiting it 'again and again'.

The world's largest streaming service is jam-packed with hit TV series, from comedy dramas to political thrillers and more.

There are plenty of adult animations on there too - with the likes of Big Mouth and Inside Job among the most well-known.

Sure, not everyone is into animated shows, but there's a reason fans are constantly rewatching this six-episode series.

Created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, the TV show follows a washed-up actor from the 90s as he begins writing a memoir about his life, with the help of ghost writer Diane Nguyen (Alison Bree).

The catch? He's a horse - and this lends itself to countless animal-related puns throughout the show's 77 rollercoaster episodes.

Named Bojack Horseman - which is also the title of the show - his hardened, often grumpy exterior soon softens to reveal decades of unresolved childhood trauma, struggles with addiction and heartache at the hands of the ever cut-throat entertainment industry.

Will Arnett voices Bojack, while Aaron Paul plays his unemployed, nuisance roommate Todd.

As Bojack attempts to regain momentum in Hollywood with his new book, he faces good friend - but also rival - Mr Peanut Butter and runs circles around his ex-girlfriend and agent Princess Carolyn.

Offering up a satirical take on the world of pop culture and celebrity, the show beautifully balances the very real of nuance of mental health and family trauma while poking fun at the hypocritical nature of Hollywood and showbiz.

The show can be a little heavy at times, juxtaposed even more by its animal-related puns and stellar guest voice cast, which includes the likes of Brooklyn 99 favorites Stephanie Beatrice and Andre Braugher and Friends star Lisa Kudrow

The show, which ran between 2014 and 2020, has racked up an almost-perfect 96 percent score from fans on Rotten Tomatoes, while critics have rated it highly too, at 93 percent.

One person wrote how they revisit the series 'again and again' despite it ending five years ago.

A second simply said: "This is a masterpiece," as a third wrote: "This show blends humour with dark topics that are not really brought up in these types of shows.

"Although most characters resemble animals the show never fails to bring up real human issues. I love it!"

All six seasons of Bojack Horseman are available to stream now on Netflix.
