Netflix subscribers have been left in disbelief after the second series of a political thriller ended with an insane cliffhanger, so much so that they've called for it be honored with a specially-made Emmy category.
Releasing on April 20, season one racked up more than around 66 million hours viewed worldwide in its first weekend alone, according to Tudum.
And on October 31, fans rejoiced when season two dropped and got stuck right in to the six-part series.

The Netflix political drama stars Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, the US ambassador to the UK.
From defusing international crises to adjusting to her new-found place in the spotlight, she has a hell of a job to do.
Titled The Diplomat, the show first premiered on Netflix in April 2023, racking up 173 million hours viewed in its first four weeks.

Now, season two sees Kate’s world ripped apart following a deadly explosion in the heart of London. Her worst fears unfold when she realizes that the attack didn’t stem from a rival nation, but from inside the British government.
As she gets closer to the truth, she also has her disintegrating marriage to fellow career diplomat Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) and ever-complicating international issues at work to deal with.

One fan gushed: "Okay the GASP I GASPED at the end of the Diplomat season two! I wish this show were week-to-week..."
Giving their verdict, a second said: "THE DIPLOMAT S1 was one of my favorite shows of the year, but Season 2 of the @Netflix series ranks among the best I've seen. It is witty, tense, well-acted, perfectly written and directed—this show has it all!"
While someone else reckoned: "There should be a new Emmy Awards category for 'Best Ending to Season' and The Diplomat Season 2 should get it," as a fourth agreed: “There should be an award for 'best end of the season cliffhanger' The Diplomat and Lincoln Lawyer would definitely make top 5!!!”
A fifth remarked: "If any show would get award for the best season ending it should be The Diplomat," as a sixth added: "Whoever created The Diplomat needs an award."
Will there be a season 3 of The Diplomat?

Yes, season three is already in production across London and New York City.
And Netflix was so confident The Diplomat's success, the next instalment was announced three weeks before the second season dropped.
Showrunner Debora Cahn told Netflix Tudum that the next part 'flips the chessboard,' with Kate living 'the particular nightmare that is getting what you want.'
Season two began filming in June 2023 for an October 2024 release, so we could expect season three by March 2026.
