Speaking in the Facebook group Netflix Bangers, one person turned the conversation to a 2019 mini-series based on true events.
“Sometimes a movie is so powerful….you can only watch it once ...This series had me teary eyed at the end great series overall loved it 10/10,” the poster wrote earlier in June.

“I couldn’t get through it, but I said I would go back and watch it completely one day,” one user wrote.
“Can’t forget till today though, it’s been over three years since I watched it,” another commented.
“It will forever and I mean forever haunt me. Harrowing is not even near [to] the way it makes you feel,” a third wrote.

When They See Us is a crime drama miniseries which follows the events of the Central Park jogger case from 1989, during which five Black and Latino males were falsely accused and prosecuted for raping and assaulting a white woman in New York City.
In the real world, those involved filed a suit against the city for wrongful conviction and were eventually awarded a settlement back in 2014.
When it was released in 2019, the show was very well received 71 nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards and the show also won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Limited Series.
