Netflix users are flooding to social media over a horrifying new true crime documentary.

If you've already binged your way through a docuseries which left some so disturbed it felt like it 'linger[ed] at the back of your head,' and want to nestle down for the weekend with another documentary sure to horrify, fear not, because Netflix has you covered.

The documentary focuses on a case involving 28-year-old Jennifer Pan (Netflix)

Synopsis

Directed by Jenny Popplewell - best known for American Murder: The Family Next Door - the feature-length murder documentary details the events surrounding a home invasion which took place on 8 November 2010 in Ontario, Canada.

Police were called to the incident by Jennifer Pan who said she was at home with her parents when gunmen broke in.

Pan's parents were killed and so she was the only remaining witness to the incident, however, in January, 2015, it would be Pan who would be sentenced to life in prison.

The documentary - titled What Jennifer Did - looks into the dreaded night in more detail and features new interviews with friends of the Pan family as well as detectives, slowly unravelling the truth. Catch the trailer here:

Reaction

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

The murder documentary currently has an audience score of 82 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, although it has a tomatometer score of 57 percent. However, that didn't stop it from achieving the second spot on Netflix's charts upon its opening week, as per Flix Patrol.

And viewers have been flooding to social media to weigh in on What Jennifer Did.

One X user said: "Watched WHAT JENNIFER DID. It’s a documentary on how high expectations Asian parenting lead to a twisted family tragedy. Some of us have issues with our family members, but hiring hitmen to kill them is next level extremism. Scarily unfathomable…"

"Love a good crime documentary #WhatJenniferDid," another added.

A third commented: "Literally sobbed after knowing that her mother's last words were 'Please don't hurt my daughter' #WhatJenniferDid."

"Even if both the parents died, detectives still would’ve found out the truth cuz ol girl was in there tellin it all about the university lie and falsifying her degree. I see why she was struggling in school #WhatJenniferDid," a fourth said.

And a final resolved: "I became a detective after attending Criminal Minds University and 11 minutes in Jenny is looking suspicious. Those crocodile tears aren’t helping and the suspects immediately being black with dreadlocks and a Jamaican accent….. #WhatJenniferDid."

What Jennifer Did is available to watch on Netflix now.
