Netflix fans have been losing it as the streaming platform has added one of the 'best family shows ever aired on TV' to binge-watch in all its glory.

The American family drama television series that was developed by Jason Katims, a showrunner of Friday Night Lights, and is loosely based on the 1989 movie of the same name.

The hit series, which scores 8.3 stars on IMDB and a whopping 88 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, first hit our screens in 2010 and ran for six seasons until 2015.

It followed three generations of the Braverman clan, parents, Ezekiel 'Zeek' and Camille, and their four adult children, Adam, Sarah, Crosby and Julia, as they juggle modern family life in their Berkeley, Californian hometown.

Some of the star-studded cast included Ray Romano, Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Peter Krause and Craig T. Nelson.

The series - called Parenthood - follows the stories of the siblings' lives and their own children and marriages that they deal with.

Adam, who is married to Kristina, has three children, Haddie, Nora and Max, who is diagnosed with Asperger's, while Sarah is divorced from Seth but co-parents their two teen kids, Amber and Drew.

And Crosby is married to Jasmine with two children, Jabbar and Aida, while Julia is married to Joel and has a daughter, Sydney, and son, Victor, whom they adopted after struggling to conceive.

The entire series was recently released on the streaming service and fans of the family classic have since taken to Twitter to share their delight at its return.

"Oh my god, they put Parenthood back on Netflix, I'm gonna bawl my eyes out. I love my Braverman family," one user wrote, to which a follower replied: "Parenthood is THEE early pandemic relic for me. I watched it 14 hours a day in April 2020... forged a forever bond with Ray Romano that week."

Another said they had a 'wonderful surprise' when they opened Netflix and spotted the show available to watch.

The user added added: "It first aired 14 years ago and given the rapid cultural shift that's happened since, it's going to feel dated in all the best ways. I can't wait to go back in."

A third posted: "Parenthood is on Netflix. One of my favourite series ever. It's This Is Us vibes, but less tears."

Users on Reddit also crowned it the 'the greatest family drama of all time'.

The series bagged some notable nominations and awards, including a Vision Award, a Critics' Choice Television Award and two Television Academy Honors awards, among several others.

Jason told The Hollywood Reporter in 2015 that the thing he's 'most proud of' with the show is how they managed to tell stories that didn't shy away from tricky topics.

He explained: "I’m very proud that we told those stories and that’s what made people lean in and watch the show,

"Hopefully, that’s what people will remember us as: like a family that always came together - and there was incredible strength in that despite the very difficult things and all the curveballs that life throws at you."

All six seasons of Parenthood are available to stream on Netflix now.
