Netflix has released the first trailer for a brand new animated series based on cult film Scott Pilgrim vs The World.
The Edgar Wright directed movie has built up a dedicated following since it was released, with the dry humour and video game style animations cut in with the live action being adored by fans.
Now, Scott Pilgrim will return in a new animated series on Netflix called Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.

And for those who loved the movie fear not, because it will not only be featuring the same cast as the film, but has also been executive produced by Edgar Wright, who directed the 2010 adaptation.
The film itself was originally based on the series of graphic novels by Canadian artist Bryan Lee O'Malley, and the series is now returning to its animated roots after the much-loved live action movie.
The movie itself was praised for its cinematography which reflected the style and feel of reading through a comic book. And from the trailer, it seems that the animated series will very much be following in its footsteps in that regard.

Michael Cera is set to reprise his role as Scott Pilgrim, while Mary Elizabeth Winstead will also return as Ramona Flowers, and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau.
And it seems that the notorious Evil Exes are also set to make reappearances in the show, including Jason Schwarzman as the enigmatic Gideon.
It's not clear at present if the series will revisit the same storylines in the movie adaptation, or if it will explore different storylines from the comics. Fans of Scott Pilgrim have remarked that the animation style in the new series seems to reflect the style of the comics as well.
Bryan Lee O’Malley is set to come backas an executive producer, writer, and co-showrunner. He will work alongside BenDavid Grabinski.
