UNILAD RANKED brings you five 'underrated' rom-coms which may've gone unnoticed among even the most broken-hearted.
Feel like you've gotten through every good, classic rom-com? Well, first off, I commiserate - your list of heartbreak must be truly lengthy. And if you were looking at today with even greater sadness questioning what the hell you're supposed to do with your evening when you've watched all the romance flicks you can think of, fear not, because you're not quite as alone as you think.
A fellow rom-com lover took to LADbible Facebook Group Netflix Bangers to question: "Any romcom recommendations? I feel like I've watched every good one out there."

And it didn't take long for several to be suggested - so, in order of Rotten Tomatoes rating, UNILAD RANKED presents five rom-com movies and series available to watch on Netflix which may have flown under your radar.
American Ultra (2015)
Unfortunately, She's All That had to be wiped from taking the fifth spot as it's no longer on Netflix. So instead, how about trying American Ultra?

Written by Max Landis and directed by Nima Nourizadeh, the 2015 release kills multiple genres with one fell swoop, described as an American rom-com, spy action movie - what a mouthful.
Not only that but it stars A Real Pain's Jesse Eisenberg and Twilight's Kristen Stewart alongside Flight Risk's Topher Grace and Nashville's Connie Britton.
A stoner named Mike Howell (Eisenberg) discovers he's part of a secret government program and well, it only gets more amazing from there.
Despite only achieving a Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer of 43 percent and Popcornmeter of 45 percent, the movie has been dubbed underrated online and overlooked by rom-com lovers.

A Twitter user wrote: "So American Ultra was a surprisingly really really good movie. I'm sad it took me so long to see it. NEW FAV."
"American Ultra - pretty... pretty... pretty good! Despite middling score on rotten tomatoes... I dunno. I think it's better than they said," another added.

Love Hard (2021)
The American rom-com is written by Danny Mackey and Rebecca Ewing, produced by McG and Mary Viola and directed by Hernán Jiménez.

It stars Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries) alongside Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley) and Darren Barnet (Never Have I Ever).
The path to true love never did run smooth, but could traveling 3,000 miles only to be catfished by Josh (Yang) lead LA writer Natalie (Dobrev) to find her perfect man?
IMDb notes the film's title is a combination of character Josh and Nina's favorite Christmas movies - Love Actually and Die Hard.
With a Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer of 53 and Popcornmeter of 89 - averaging at 71 - the response to the movie has been divided, however, one Twitter user voiced: "Its scenario is funny and playing Nina is lovely and perfect."

Virgin River (2019)
Based on the book series of the same name by Robyn Carr, the series was developed by Sue Tenney and produced by Reel World Management for Netflix.
Its first season premiered on December 6, 2019 and it's since gone on to run for six seasons, having been renewed for a seventh too.
It stars Alexandra Breckenridge (She's the Man), Martin Henderson (Grey's Anatomy) and Colin Lawrence (Angels in the Snow).
The story centers around a nurse practitioner named Melinda Monroe (Breckenridge) who moves from Los Angeles to a small town in California called Virgin River. However, she soon discovers it's not quite as quaint-a-life as she first thought it would be - but will something, or someone, make it more worth it?
The series has obtained a Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer of 81 and Popcornmeter of 66 percent - averaging at 73.5 - with one viewer stating: "Just started this show this week and SOOO exited im gonna binge watch this."
Lucifer (2016)
Granted, it's not technically classified as a rom-com but fantasy TV series, that's not to say there isn't a lot of romance to sink your teeth into.
The titular character Lucifer Morningstar - an alternative version of the DC Comic's character of the same name created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg from The Sandman - decides to abandon Hell and run a Los Angeles nightclub before ending up in an unexpected relationship with his police department, after which something else potentially entices him from ever returning to Hell.
The series stars the legend that is Tom Ellis (Players), alongside actors such as Lauren German (Chicago Fire) and Kevin Alejandro (Arcane).
It first aired on Netflix in January 2016 and concluded after six seasons in September 2021, however, the love for it has reigned on, its Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer score a fresh 87 alongside a Popcornmeter of 73.
"Realize that Lucifer is the greatest entertainment story ever!!" A Twitter user wrote.
Another added: "This show is one the best things that's ever happened to me. I'll be forever grateful."
Set It Up (2018)
The top spot was meant to go to Jane the Virgin, alas, like She's All That, the series is no longer on the platform.
So, how about a bit of Glen Powell and Zoey Deutch to make up for it?
Written by Katie Silberman and directed by Claire Scanlon, the Netflix release stars the Twisters actor and The Suite Life on Deck alumnus alongside Private Practice's Taye Diggs and Charlie's Angels' Lucy Liu.
Two assistants to high-powered and high-functioning bosses end up devising a plan to de-stress them and distract them from continuously unleashing their wrath on them, but will the plot work? Will it just make things worse or will an unexpected outcome arise?
Set It Up has achieved a Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer score of 92 and Popcornmeter of 69 - averaging at 80.5, putting it just into the lead.
A Twitter user wrote: "How did none of you tell me that there is a romcom on netflix with a male lead that has cameron from ferris bueller energy and a 92 percent on rotten tomatoes (which for a romcom is the equivalent of winning a pulitzer prize)??"

Also mentioned on the Netflix Bangers post were She's All That (1999) and Jane the Virgin.
She's All That features an all-star cast of Scooby-Doo legends Freddie Prinze Jr. and Matthew Lillard, A Tourist's Guide to Love's Rachael Leigh Cook, Fast and Furious' Paul Walker, Prison Break's Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, A Real Pain's Kieran Culkin and The Piano's Anna Paquin.
When popular kid Zach Siler's (Prinze Jr.) cheerleader girlfriend, Taylor (O'Keefe) dumps him and starts dating reality TV star Brock Hudson (Lillard), he agrees to the challenge of turning quiet and unlikely fellow student Laney Boggs (Cook) into school's next prom queen. But will the pair end up getting more than they hoped for?

While She's All That was one of the most popular teen films of the 90s, its Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer of 41 and Popcornmeter of 55 shows it hasn't weathered well across the ages, although this hasn't stopped the film - which was filmed in the same school as Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) as per IMDb - resurfacing for various rom-com lovers.
One Twitter user said: "There is a full 6 minute Bob Fosse dance number in the film She’s All That and I think we don’t talk about it enough?"
"Iconic 90s flick," another said, with a third writing: "Gold year."
You can catch the flick on Paramount Plus, or if you have, in fact, already seen it, the follow-up film He's All That is on Netflix.
Jane the Virgin (2014) has also since come off Netflix too.
With a Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer of 100 percent and Popcornmeter of 86 percent, it's not one to miss with a stellar performance from Gina Rodriguez and Jenna Ortega playing the younger version of her character.
You can catch Jane the Virgin on Amazon Prime Video.
