Elizabeth Hurley says she felt ‘liberated’ filming sex scene for her son’s new movie

Elizabeth Hurley says she felt ‘liberated’ filming sex scene for her son’s new movie

Elizabeth Hurley is starring in her son's directorial debut set for release next month.

Elizabeth Hurley has spoken out about filming sex scenes in a film directed by her son.

The Gossip Girl actor stars in upcoming release Strictly Confidential, a film both written and directed by her 21-year-old son, Damien Hurley.

The mysterious thriller sees Mia (Georgia Lock) return to the Caribbean on the anniversary of her friend Rebecca's (Lauren McQueen's) death and ends up pulled back into the past, alongside 'a seductive world of sex, betrayal and murder', and Elizabeth stars as the character of Lily.

Prepare yourself for some steamy scenes:

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Elizabeth revealed she'd promised Damian whenever he made his first movie she would 'definitely be in it'.

The duo then jet out to the Caribbean with the other cast members and got the film 'made' in '18 days,' Damian adds.

Damian noted it was 'terrifying' making his directorial debut, particularly in the genre of a thriller, but was it similarly daunting for Elizabeth filming sex scenes with her son directing?

Well, it proved to be quite the opposite, the 58-year-old explaining having Damian there 'meant that [she] felt safe and looked after', despite how some scenes 'weren't necessarily things [she'd] always done in movies many times before'.

Damian reflects filming such scenes with a parent may be viewed as 'controversial' by some, however, he explains that with his mom having been in the film and TV industry for so long, it's always been such a 'fundamental part of [his] entire life' that it's 'just not a thing' and is 'part of business'.

"It’s kind of liberating to work with your family," Elizabeth says.

"I’m relaxed in front of him. He looks after me… It’s relaxing knowing someone is behind the camera who looks out for you."

Elizabeth said she 'felt safe' filming the scenes with her son directing.

In a post to Instagram shortly after wrapping on the film in December 2022, Damian said 'everyone involved deserves public declarations of adoration (all of which will come in due course)' but that he wanted to 'worship' his mom for 'dropping everything' the moment his first feature was greenlit and 'racing' out to help.

He said: "Working together was a dream. This has genuinely been the most incredible experience, both professionally and personally. I’ve made lifelong friends and learnt many valuable lessons. I’m so so proud of this film."

Strictly Confidential is currently set for release on 5 April, 2024 in select theaters and on demand on Prime Video and Apple TV.
