The director of Johnny Depp's latest movie has claimed crew members were 'afraid' of the actor, but she has no regrets about casting him.
Depp may have won his defamation trial against Amber Head and be awarded $15 million in damages, but that hasn't prevented controversy from following in the 60-year-old's wake.
Last month, his Blow co-star Lola Glaudini came forward accusing the Pirates of the Caribbean star of verbal abuse.

She claimed when they cut a scene where she'd just been instructed to laugh at one of Depp's lines, he walked over to her and 'st[u]ck his finger in [her] face'.
"And he goes, ‘Who the f*ck do you think you are? Who the f*ck do you think you are? Shut the f*ck up," Glaudini alleged.
However, Depp's representatives responded to Glaudini's claims, telling Variety: "Johnny always prioritizes good working relationships with cast and crew and this recounting differs greatly from the recollection of other members on set at the time."
Depp's version of events were also corroborated by Blow's sound engineer Samuel Sarkar.

Now, director Maïwenn - full name Maïwenn Aurélia Nedjma Le Besco - who worked with Depp on his latest movie Jeanne Du Barry, has opened up about working with the actor.
Maïwenn claims she and Depp first butt heads when it came to their creative interpretations of the movie.
She told The Independent: "Johnny came with a new version of the script and I wasn’t happy with it. It didn’t work... So I shot it without making the changes he wanted… which he took as an insult."

However, Maïwenn notes she tried to see these disagreements as an 'opportunity' to fuel certain emotions in one particularly dark scene in the film.
There were also times the director claims Depp wouldn't show up on set and expected to be treated like an icon 'all the time'.
She continued: "I have to be honest. It’s difficult to shoot with him... All the crew were scared because he has a different kind of humour and we didn’t know if he was going to be on time, or if he was going to be OK to say his lines...
"I mean, even if he was there on set, on time, the crew were afraid of him."

Despite having a pleasant relationship prior to the film, Maïwenn said there's 'been no normal relationship since the shoot'.
She resolved: "Johnny for me is a huge genius but he’s in another world. I cannot communicate with him."
Although, saying that, she adds she has no regret with choosing him for the role.
