The first trailer for the hugely anticipated Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has been released. Watch it below:
The latest release in the popular franchise follows on from 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes, which ended with Caesar leading his followers into a new oasis.

While humans have been defeated and reduced to a near feral existence, the ape societies continue to thrive in this ever-changing world.
An official description for the film reads: "As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
While a previous synopsis for the film said: "An all-new chapter in the Apes saga, picking up many years after the conclusion of 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes."

Wes Ball is on directing duties for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, known largely for the Maze Runner trilogy.
He directed the film from a script produced by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Patrick Aison.
Ball, Jaffa, Silver, Joe Hartwick Jr. and Jason Reed, while Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping serve as executive producers on the project.
The first trailer released on Thursday (2 November) provides a taste of what we can expect in the new film, from the characters, to the locations we will experience.

Before today, all we had seen from Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes came from concept art.
Fans should be excited for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, according to Andy Serkis anyway.
The actor - who previously played the leader of the tribe of enhanced apes, Caesar - will be able to enjoy the franchise as a fan for the first time in over a decade.

While speaking to CinemaBlend earlier this year, the British actor shared his thoughts on the upcoming science fiction flick.
He said: “I think Wes Ball is going to do an amazing job with this film.
"I think it’s, from what I’ve heard and what I’ve seen, there’s some amazing conceptual artwork where they’ve chosen to land the story and take off with the next iteration, I think it’s gonna blow people’s minds.”
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will release in cinemas on May 24, 2024.
