Viewers slam Menendez brothers prosecutor for 'disgusting' threat against TikTok users in new documentary

Viewers slam Menendez brothers prosecutor for 'disgusting' threat against TikTok users in new documentary

The Menendez Brothers documentary on Netflix is providing a lot of talking points

Netflix viewers have slammed the prosecutor behind the Menendez brothers' first trial after a threat against TikTok users.

Fresh off the back of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, many Netflix viewers are tuning into The Menendez Brothers, a documentary also available on the streaming platform.

Lyle and Erik were convicted of murdering their parents at their family home in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, in 1989.

45-year-old dad José and his 47-year-old mom Kitty Menendez were shot 16 times with shotguns.

The pair alleged during their trial they'd been the victim of physical, emotional and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.

Prosecutors argued that they had killed their parents for financial benefit.

The new documentary-style format of The Menendez Brothers features phone interviews with Erik and Lyle, alongside discussions with Kitty's family relatives.

Journalist Robert Rand and Pamela Bozanich, who prosecuted the brothers in 1993, also appear in the documentary.

A former member of the boy band Menudo claimed in 2023 he was sexually assaulted by José as a child, which led to many on social media calling for a retrial.

Lyle said in the documentary: "Young people have taken the time to figure out what happened, and they understand it in ways that older people don’t. I feel more hope when society seems to be understanding sex abuse even better."

Bozanich, who also speaks in the doc, firmly rebuffed the claims.

She said: "The only reason we’re doing this special is because of the TikTok movement to free the ‘Menendi’.

“If that’s how we’re gonna try cases now, why don’t we just, like, have a poll? You present the faces, everybody gets to vote on TikTok, and then we decide who gets to go home.

“Your beliefs are not facts. They’re just beliefs. And by the way, all you TikTok people, I’m armed. We got guns all over the house. So don’t mess with me.”

Many viewers have flocked to social media after hearing the comments.

"She got her 15 minutes of fame on this documentary she didn’t have to do that interview and then to tell TikTokers to not come after her and she had guns! Disgusting behavior!" one person penned on Twitter.

While a second added: "Pamela Bozanich is extremely unprofessional and should be embarrassed with what she contributed to this documentary."

The Menendez Brothers is streaming on Netflix now, as well as Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
