A new trailer for Robert Pattinson's 'absurd' new film has dropped, with everyone saying the same thing.

The movie, Mickey 17, is based off the book Mickey 7 and is set to release in early next year.

Joining Pattinson in the cast are the likes of Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette, and Thomas Turgoose.

An official synopsis for the movie reads: "A disposable employee is sent on a human expedition to colonize the ice world Niflheim. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact."

A recently dropped trailer for the movie has left the majority of fans stunned by the concept of Pattison’s Mickey being a ‘disposable’.

Mickey is sent to dangerous planets and ends up dying over and over again until he breaks the cycle and does not die.

He ultimately meets Mickey 18, which sees the plot of the movie begin in an incredible way.

The film is utterly bonkers going off the trailer alone, with Twitter dubbing Pattison's character of Mickey as a 'little sexual freak'.

"Robert Pattinson’s commitment to putting himself in the most absurd sexual situations is to be commended," one Twitter user put.

While another added: "I will forever live with the shame of all the terrible things I said about Robert Pattinson’s acting during Twilight. He’s the greatest male actor of his generation and it’s not even close."

While it's accepted the character of Mickey is pretty strange, much of the internet is in agreement the calibre of Pattison means he is ideal for the role.

"Robert Pattinson in an absurdist SciFi comedy? Yes, please. Also everything about this is chefs kiss," one film fan said about the camera.

Pattison has previously made it known he's not a fan of certain sex scenes in movies.

Back in 2008, Robert Pattinson performed an unsimulated sex act in a movie about Salvador Dali titled Little Ashes.

Speaking with Germany's Interview magazine, the Batman actor admitted he 'had to do a lot of scenes' where he was naked in the movie.

However, there was one movie in particular that apparently made Pattison consider quitting actor altogether.

“I once decided to quit acting; it was when I did Little Ashes," Pattison told the magazine.

The actor went on to say he had to pleasure himself in front of the camera. Yep, he had to masturbate, for real.

"I also had to masturbate. I mean really," Pattinson said, adding: “My orgasm face is recorded for eternity."
