While many horror films claim to be one of the scariest ever made, not so many can back it up.
But if claims about an upcoming horror movie are to be believed then it may join those which can actually stand up their claims to being utterly terrifying.

The upcoming movie stars Nicolas Cage, but the actor's precise appearance in the movie has not yet been revealed to audiences.
In an era when many movie trailers more or less summarise in the entire plot and render seeing the movie somewhat pointless, that does feel refreshing.
And if accounts from the movie set are to be believed, then it seems that Cage's appearance in the movie could be truly terrifying.
It's easy to make exaggerated claims about how scary a movie could be, after all, how does one even go about measuring levels of 'scariness'?

Well, one way to do it could be to measure someone's heart rate as a result of the movie.
If that's a way to measure it, then the upcoming movie Longlegs could be a terrifying experience.
That's because star Maika Monroe claimed that her heart rate leapt to a whopping 170bpm when she first saw Cage in character.

Recalling the moment, she said: “When I walked in and saw Nicolas Cage as Longlegs, that was a visceral experience I’ll never forget.”
The movie is already being touted as the 'scariest film of the decade', with Cage's look as the titular serial killer being carefully concealed.
Director Oz Perkins revealed that this is quite deliberate to keep audiences wondering.
He told GeekTyrant: "It's driving people towards a freak show at a circus tent.

"We've got the thing behind the curtain, and when there's enough people gathered round, we're going to pull the curtain."
For his part, Cage has not held back on just how scary they think the movie is.
He said: "It's the equivalent of putting a warning label on a jar of nitroglycerin. The monster is a highly, highly dangerous substance. The way it's moved, unveiled, deployed has to be treated very carefully.

“Forget about the movie theater blowing up; the whole city could blow up, nay the country, maybe even the world. He is going to change your reality. Your doors of perception are going to open, and your life is not going to be the same."
That's certainly setting the bar pretty high, and only time will tell if Longlegs lives up to the sky high hype being thrown its way.
Longlegs is set to be released on July 12.
