Fans sinking their teeth into a new trailer for a classic horror reboot were left 'p**sed' by one of the casting choices.

Normally when it comes to rebooted films and TV shows there is an expected backlash, with many fans remarking ‘no one is asking for this’ or that it wouldn’t hold a candle to the original... you know the typical statements.

However, the upcoming horror flick Nosferatu - a reboot of the 1922 film of the same name - is facing backlash for a completely different reason after dropping its first teaser trailer yesterday (June 24).

If you check the cast for the upcoming spooky film, Anya Taylor-Joy isn’t on the billing and that is what fans have an issue with. Watch the trailer below:

While the Robert Eggers-helmed project has been in the works since as far back as 2015, Taylor-Joy has been attached since around 2017. However, the star had to eventually drop out due to scheduling conflicts and she was replaced by Lily Rose-Depp.

Some fans have taken to social media to comment their disappointment with some going as far to call the move ‘unforgivable.’

“Damn, I really wanted to see Anya in Nosferatu,” one fan complained.

“It should've been Anya why did you drop from Nosferatu, I don't think I could forgive you,” added another.

While a third added: “I'm so p****d, Anya would have been perfect in Nosferatu, I lost so bad."

“am kinda living for lily rose in the nosferatu teaser, but i can’t help but to imagine how good anya would have been,” commented another.

“Lily replacing Anya is why people (myself included) were skeptical heading in. I think LRD is gonna do well in Nosferatu! Already excelling the expressions,” an optimistic fan chimed in.

So while many fans remain skeptical or at least wonder what Taylor-Joy was going to bring to the table, there are many that are hopeful the film will still be a brilliant and dark gothic story.

A synopsis for Nosferatu reveals it is a 'Gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.'

Nosferatu also stars the likes of Emma Corrin, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Willem Dafoe.

The film is set to hit cinemas around Christmas 2024 and is not yet rated.
